Ten strategic pillars

Roadmap to 2060

2026–2031: Foundation

Complete verified development baselines, update spatial plans, establish public project monitoring and launch evaluated programs in agriculture, skills, healthcare and digital services.

2031–2036: Expansion

Scale viable processing and enterprise clusters, strengthen vocational training, expand safe water and sanitation, and improve healthcare referral and emergency systems.

2036–2046: Consolidation

Deepen regional economic integration, applied research, climate adaptation, infrastructure maintenance and public service quality.

2046–2060: Sustained prosperity

Maintain inclusive access to essential services, resilient institutions, environmental safeguards and adaptive long-term planning.

Implementation and financing

Integrate the vision into applicable county planning and budgeting processes. Assess each project for technical feasibility, environmental effects, capital and recurrent costs, procurement requirements, affordability and public value. Potential funding may include lawful county revenue, intergovernmental transfers, development partnerships and commercially viable private investment.

Monitoring and public accountability

Publish quarterly operational reports, annual development scorecards and five-year strategic reviews. Report relevant indicators by ward and other appropriate categories, with privacy safeguards. Independently evaluate major projects and document public feedback.

National and global alignment

County initiatives should complement applicable Kenyan national development plans and the constitutional division of functions. The framework also draws on themes reflected in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, while recognizing that the current SDG target horizon is 2030 and future global agreements may change.

A shared future

Nyeri's progress should be measured in the wellbeing of residents, opportunities for young people, resilience of communities, protection of natural ecosystems and effectiveness of public institutions. This vision is intended as an adaptable framework for successive generations.
